Adventures in New York

Barrett had a certification training in New York, so I took the opportunity to tag along, have some special time with him, and visit New York!

Gigi came to stay with the boys for the majority of our trip, and our nanny Karinna stayed with them and helped Gigi throughout. I will update on their time while we were away soon!
(Thank you thank you thank you for all your time, energy, help, etc Gigi!!)

Barrett and I got to have breakfast with the boys on Saturday and then headed out!

We arrived in time to check in to our hotel, get unpacked, and then head down to a nearby bar to watch some football.

Then we had a delicious dinner at North End Restaurant and headed to a show. We got to see Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays- which we both absolutely loved. Apparently HBO will be filming the show soon so we highly recommend watching it when out! Had to get a cheesy picture!
We got wine in these weird cups for the show... It definitely wasn't my favorite tasting wine, but I it was still exciting to have it :)

Excited to see our show!

And we had great seats just about 4 rows back! It was awesome to see Billy Crystal so close!
Sunday morning we started with a delicious breakfast close to our hotel, and then we walked to Ground Zero- which was also very close to where we were staying.

(It was coooold!!)

Then Barrett had to head to his training, so I went to Rockefeller center to see the tree!

And then my most amazing husband bought me a ticket to see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular with the Rocketeers! One of my best friends Sara and her mom had tickets, so although I wouldn't find them until after the show, it was fun knowing they were there too!
(Sadly, I was afraid my phone was about to die so didn't take a single picture). The show was really fun though, and thankfully I found Sara and Sally right after! Then we headed back to the tree!
Then we found a nearby restaurant to warm up in- and it started snowing hard! It was so pretty and fun for me to experience!
Next we headed to Sara's house in Williamsburg. I was excited to take the train all the way there and experience that again! And I got to see her house and precious dog Thor!
Barrett met us for dinner at a nearby restaurant for a wonderful ending to a fun day! As many know, December 8 is always sentimental as we lost my dad on this day 17 years ago (I can't believe it's been that long), and it was so wonderful to be surrounded by such great people all day!

Monday Barrett's training started early, so I had the whole morning to wonder the streets of the City- and I did!! I walked for hours and really enjoyed myself (although my nose went numb from cold!). Then I met Sally (my friend Sara's mom) for a very late lunch, and we shopped for a few hours together before going to your Sara's office. I had never been to a big advertising firm, and it was fun to see how my friend spends her days!
We ended the day with Barrett joining us in Williamsburg for another delicious dinner!

Tuesday we woke up to learn that my afternoon flight home had been canceled due to a huge snow storm in NYC!

You can't tell, but out of our hotel window you could see the most big, beautiful snow flakes I've ever seen!

We immediately started trying to improvise so I could get home... And I'll spare most the details, but I ended up having a very very long day flying from NYC to LA (a 6 hour flight- not to mention the more than hour we sat in the plane at the gate in New York while they put a very green anti-ice solution on the wing)

View of the wing from my seat in the plane...

The worker was spraying anti-ice stuff... it looked crazy!
And then finally to Austin (almost 3 hr flight)! Zing zagging the country was not so fun- and I wasn't actually home until after midnight!
Here is me on the Parking Spot bus going get my car- at 12:15 am!  13 hours since I boarded my first plane! SO happy to be home!
But I did finish a good book and got to kiss my babies' faces first thing in the morning!

I got LJ a little Statue of Liberty... He loves it!

I had a fabulous trip and so glad and thankful I got to go!! Thanks again and again to all who made it possible!
