Fishing!!!
There is a new exciting hobby that the Wood boys have become obsessed with, FISHING!!
It really started with LJ ....
A quick trip down memory lane....
The first LJ and Barrett went fishing was in July, 2013 at a ranch his parents owned. We went with the Robinsons and McDonnells, and if I remember correctly, the dads were way more into than the boys... but it was really cute!!
The second time LJ went fishing was with Capi in Florida, March 2016!! This was also Evan's first time! LJ was pretty into the whole thing, and they actually caught a fish so that made it even more memorable and exciting for him!!
The next opportunity we had to get a reel in his hand was when we visited our friends lake house last November. He really became obsessed that day and was determined to continue fishing until he caught something! Sadly, it never happened! But his passion was definitely seen!
Then we got to fish again at Betsy's lakehouse in March... even more excitement!
Barrett has always liked fishing, so LJ's obvious passion and interest gave Barrett the bug to get more into it... and they did!!! When we got back from Betsy's lakehouse, Barrett went out and got the boys some kids fishing rods. Then on St. Patrick's Day, they went to Brushy Creek for the first time!!
Since March, the boys have done SO MUCH FISHING!!! I am surprised but proud of LJ's determination and patience for the sport!
Then Barrett started taking the boys down to his parents' house to fish early in the mornings with Grandad on weekends. Ellie and I would stay home and sleep, but the boys had such a great time!!!
I love that they got to have this special time with their Grandad! They raved about it all week and would immediately start the count down for when they got to go again on Sunday nights!
Of course, getting up that early often meant very tired boys on Sundays!!
But... check out Evan, actually smiling in his sleep as they drive to church after fishing with Grandad!!! How cute!!!
LJ has learned so much and can actually bait, cast, and even reel in his own fish! He has caught bass, perch, catfish, and some other small fish along the way. He is always excited to talk about fishing and even loves watching fishing shows! I am so excited for this special passion LJ and Barrett (and Evan to a lesser extent for now!) are enjoying together!
