Back to El Paso, July 2017
We had a wonderful 15 day trip to El Paso in June, but the last night we were there, my grandma fractured her hip. We had planned to see her in the morning for one last hug, but she ended up going to the hospital, and while we knew she'd be ok, we never got our last hug... So we decided we needed one more quick visit before summer was over.
The only weekend we could make work happened to be the weekend right after our Idaho trip. So we got home from Idaho on a Tuesday night, unpacked and repacked on Wednesday, and then headed to El Paso on Thursday morning! Unfortunately, Barrett could not make the second trip with us as he had a lot of work, but the dogs were happy that their dad stayed home with them!
The kids and I waiting for our plane at the Austin airport while enjoying rice rollers!
The flight was completely full, and we were B-group! Thankfully one of the flight attendants saw us and saved us the very back two rows! Evan volunteered to sit in the row across the aisle from me, Ellie was next to me, and LJ go the window. They are getting to be such easy and great travelers! They love watching shows or playing games and love flying.
We did have a major incident right when we got on though...LJ pinched his finger skin in the seat belt!!! It was stuck in there and I couldn't even figure out how to get it out. He was screaming and they flight attendant had to come help. She had never seen anyone do that either! We got it out, but it was very traumatic! She got LJ some ice, and he was better soon. Poor baby!!!
We loved our flight attendant! She showed Ellie all the drawers and where everything is kept, and even gave us a HUGE bag of peanuts (probably 30 small bags) to take home!
I was left in the dust when the kids spotted their Gigi!! They all ran as fast as they could to hug her!
Then Ellie jumped on her Gigi and gave her a huge and very tight hug!!
First stop... TECMA! And we got to visit with Uncle John!
Then we went to Grandma's! She was still sleeping on her hospital bed set up in her living room (since her bedroom is downstairs and she wasn't able to get down there). The kids LOVED having a bed in her living room and happily watched whatever she was watching while they ate their ice cream. Grandma insists on giving the kids a little personal cup of ice cream, a bag of cookies and gummy bears every single time we see her! She always has everything ready- and usually gives them money too. She is so generous and thoughtful!! We are such luck and spoiled grandchildren!!!
Friday morning we decided to make another quick trip to the El Paso Zoo- we love it there and the kids had been begging to go back to see the bird show!
We had a short visit overall, but ended it with a run through the splash pad!
And that put these monkeys right to sleep! It's been a full week!
Then we headed back to Grandma's house for our daily visit! Ellie and Grandma doing their exercises together! I am so amazed by my tough Grandma!
Ellie asked to take a picture on the bench on Grandma's porch! She loves it! And LJ showing us his gappy smile! Two missing teeth!
Facetiming with our favorite!!
Saturday morning, Capi took LJ to their condo and they worked hard cleaning it out while Gigi, Evan, Ellie and I went to Costco. Capi said LJ was a big help, and they found these old headphones for Evan. He loves wearing them (even though they have no purpose!).
Evan got to drive to lunch with Capi! Happy Ewok!
Saturday afternoon we got to go swimming at Aunt Sandy and Uncle Alberts house... and we got Capi to come too!! The boys were in heaven!
I love this one...
We showered and changed there, and then had dinner and dessert! What a fun evening!
Love this crew!!
Capi captured this shot of Evan deep in thought on Sunday morning!
Long visit at Grandma's house...
Grandma's walker is too much fun!
Pictures with Grandma!
Four generations! Love it!
They watched a whole movie on Grandma's bed!!
Cuddling...
Feeding the animals down below...
Gigi and LJ- these two are so cute!!
Tickling and laughing so hard! Haha!
Meanwhile, the dogs got all groomed and fancied up back home, and we got these pictures!
Our last night in El Paso, we went back to Aunt Sandy's for one last swim!
Ellie and Uncle Albert bonding!
Good-bye hugs for their Capi!!
And then for their Gigi!
We had a much less crowded flight going home, but we kept the same seating arrangement!
LJ and Ellie shared an iPad and watched a movie.
Good-bye El Paso!
Home!!!
My boys are getting to be such good helpers! Proud of them!
Thankful for a quick but wonderful visit!!
