Champions: Superhero Headquarters Camp

LJ's first summer camp of the year.  We put him in Champions Gymnastic Camp: Superhero Headquarters.  The week started out great- his cousin Eagle Jr and friend, Ben, were both in camp with him, and he was excited go! Evan wished he could stay too!

Drop-off on the first day- LJ got right to playing with his cousin Eagle Jr! Camp times were just like his school, 9 am - 1 pm. They had full days of activities including: balance beams, an airtrak, bars, a huge foam pit, and trampoline. They also had an Arts and Crafts activity every day and a station where they played games!
Unfortunately, every day drop-off got harder. LJ seems to be going through a separation anxiety phase, and each day he made it harder for me to leave him. BUT he was so happy every day when I picked him up, would tell me about his day and sing songs he had learned, etc. And they would tell me that five minutes after I left, he would calm down and be fine/ happy the rest of the day.

The last day was the worst- LJ was clingy onto me and screaming and begging me not to leave..... it was so awful for me- but I knew he would have fun when I left. And sure enough, he was such a happy guy when I showed up for the pep rally the last day!

LJ was in the Fishies group- sitting at the far right in the picture below. The Pep Rally was really cute to watch- all the groups did about a 5 minute performance. Fishies had a cute little song (Rock the Boat) with some moves. And they did a quick run through the mat - LJ did a great forward roll, followed by a big jump into the foam pit.
LJ was so excited to see us- he ran out and yelled, "HI!" up to us! He kept saying "Evan! I am right here! Here I am Evan!" I think part of the problem he had being dropped off was knowing that Evan and I had a morning together without him.
The Fishies singing their song!

To celebrate successfully staying in camp and a great week, we took all the kids to Amy's Ice Cream after their Pep Rally. I think this was LJ and Evan's first time here! They were both very excited to pick out their ice cream and topping, and they both thoroughly enjoyed! It was also so fun to have all the kids here together! Piper joined us for ice cream too- so fun that these kids have been friends since they were ~3 months old!!
Happy monkeys!

I have signed BOTH boys up for one more camp in August (this will be my first time to leave Evan anywhere like this for the morning!!). So hopefully dropping both off together will go more smoothly. And they will be in school at Champions one day a week next year.
