Sommer Passport to Candyland

One Saturday morning in early December, LJ's elementary school put on a really cool event called Passport to Candy land. Each child (siblings included!) got a little blue 'passport' book to get stamped as we went around the school and visited different 'countries'. Various parts of the school represented different regions, so we just walked through the school learning about different places, traditions, and cultures. It was very elaborate and, in my opinion, very well done!

LJ's piano recital happened to be the same morning, so we were late getting there. And it happened to be pouring rain outside. Since we didn't know what do expect, Barrett just dropped the boys and me off at the school and then went on a little lunch date with Ellie before picking us up a couple hours later.

Here are the little books the boys got as we walked in...

Each country had an activity or something to do before the kids were able to get their stamp for visiting there. The first country we stopped in, Australia, had a boomerang making station... the boys got right to work!

Then we headed to Asia. The first thing they did here is learn to use chopsticks! It was a competition/ game... boys didn't win, but I was impressed they both got it down pretty well!!

Then they threw arrows into bucket targets...
LJ did great at this and got every single one in!

Got to see Korean clothing....

They got to play multiple games... here they were trying to flip the paper square by hitting the corner just right. Only LJ was able to get this one... but he got a big prize for it!

A kicking game...
There were these huge boards of information on each country... I loved all the information they provided!

Haha!
Then they would get their stamps!!

I loved seeing and learning so much! I may have enjoyed this more than the boys!

Boys got their names written in several languages- on bookmarks, name tags, or papers!

There was even a super cool African dancer teaching all the kids cool dances!!

We ended in America...
And guess who we ran in to!?!!

I even got some Indian 'jewelry' put on me! I thought this was a religious thing... I was wrong! I love the cultural diversity our family is being exposed to and all that we are learning! What a cool thing!
