Halloween Night 2016
In September, the boys had lots of ideas about what to be for Halloween (pilots, superheroes, Star Wars characters, sports players), but then when we were at Target at the beginning of October, they each found a costume they insisted was THE ONE! And they were on sale so I pounced!
LJ picked a Ninjago Lego Ninja (the red one, Kai, which I learned this year!), and Evan wanted to be Han Solo. I showed Ellie the Chewbacca costume to match Evan, and she laughed! So I decided it was worth a try! And it worked! Yay!
We were very excited to be in a kid friendly and great trick-or-treating neighborhood this year for Halloween! We have a perfect street of just about 25 houses that we could trick or treat around. And then our friends (and also very close neighbors just a few streets away) invited us to a pot luck Halloween party/ trick-or-treating. So we attempted both! We got bathes done early and costumes on by 5 pm, and then walked half of our street. No one was ready for us, but we really just wanted to say, "Happy Halloween!" to our neighbors and drop off a little bag of candy for them (since we wouldn't be home- and we also left a bowl of candy out!).
Here we are on our street- still early and pretty hot! Ellie didn't wear her Chewbacca hat much after these pictures, but she sure was a cute Chewbacca!!
Our next door neighbor's house!
The Ninjago Lego Ninja, Kai aka LJ!
Already have this thing down!
Then we headed to the Johnson's house for a pot luck dinner and playing before heading out again!
I made 'Mummy-dogs'... my first attempt so was very happy they were a hit. This may become a regular for me!
Boys eating dinner.
Had to get a group shot of all the kids before heading out... so cute!!!
My three!
Rex and LJ were both Ninjagos (Lego-ninjas). They planned this a few weeks ago and were so excited! They stayed right by each other all night, too, so it was a successful match!
Rex (Ren's twin brother) and Evan were both Star Wars characters! Rex was a storm trooper!
Ellie's first year really trick or treating, and she already has the system down! Won't let us skip a house (which put us behind the group some of the time) and loves getting candy in her bag! She wouldn't say 'Trick or treat' very well, but she did always say thank you loud and clear! We'll take it!
Barrett with Evan and Ellie (LJ and Ren were too fast!).
One house we went by was a little scary! There was a FAKE werewolf standing over a fake dead guy all lit up with green spooky lights in the yard by the front tree. But as people approached the house, they had to walk passed the driveway and an SUV parked in the driveway. So as people were focusing on the scene with the werewolf and walking, a man dressed up as a werewolf would jump out from behind the car and scare people! He was really trying to scare just the older kids, but we were with some older kids so he did it around the same time we passed by.
POOR LJ! He said he had the EEKS and wanted to leave asap! And then he kept talking about how scary it was and even said he was scared before bed (not like LJ). So we talked a lot about how everyone was dressed up for fun, it was all pretend, and all that. I think it helped, but thanks a lot werewolf!!! Ugh!!!
Evan didn't seem to affected by him, and Ellie kept trying to pet the fake werewolf! And when she saw the real one, she thought he was another Chewbacca and kept saying "Hi BACCA! Bye Bacca!"
Here is the only picture I got- the fake werewolf standing over the fake body! And Ellie just pointing and wanting to pet it! hah!
Proud of their heavy bags of candy!
Ellie was with me for a while and then Barrett... until she spotted her favorite of all people, Missy! Then she would only hold Missy's hand and go with her!
Ellie- refusing to walk with me and so happy/ proud of herself! Hah!
Sweet!
Our group at a house... lots of kids!
A final picture for the night of me and my very favorite pumpkin! Thanks for wearing the shirt with me great husband! Happy Halloween!
