The Rest of Ellie's First Week!

Well our little girl is home, and it's time to get into the swing of things! Thank goodness we have two weeks with Gigi here to help us!!
First morning home... Ellie's first wasn't too bad! Barrett held her for a couple hours so I could sleep- so we both got some rest!!
She is sleeping in the one new piece of baby gear we have purchased- a rock and play. It is slightly inclined and cozy... and she seems to like it!
Boys are super happy to have Gigi- and are happy to have Ellie too!
A sweet cuddly moment between the brothers! LOVE!!!
She is such a sleepy little thing!
A basket of pink clothes!! Never thought I would have one of these... feeling so excited and blessed!!!
On Monday, we decided we needed to give her a good bath! We never got to at the hospital, and her hair was pretty gross! So our housekeeper Leti (who is AMAZING and we love!) said she would really like to help me. She pretty much did most of the bath! But this worked out so I could take pictures! It was fast, and poor Ellie cried through the majority of it! But she looked SO much better clean! We will probably just bath her every couple days until her umbilical cord falls off...

All clean and in one of her new outfits!!! Thanks for your help Leti!!

A quick visit from Queenie on Monday afternoon- and I finally got a picture of Ellie with her Queenie!! Yay!

She loves snoozing in the Nap Nanny (also Evan's favorite place to nap as an infant).
Tuesday morning we had Ellie's first pediatrician appointment.  She did well, and the doctor said everything looks good! As far as her white streak of hair, he said that it's probably just a birth mark type of thing. There is a small chance it is related to genetic disorder, but there is currently nothing causing us to be worried. The genetic disorders associated with this type of white streak (like Waardenburg Syndrome, for example) all have other symptoms that we don't see so far- like hearing loss, vision problems, GI problems, etc.  Our doctor said we can get more frequent vision and hearing screens if wanted. She did pass her first hearing screen in the hospital with flying colors though!
We were also anxious to see how much weight she'd gained since we left the hospital. She was born at 7 lbs 3 oz, then got as low as 6 lbs 8 oz when we left the hospital. Weight loss is normal in newborns until the mother's milk comes in, but they want the baby back to birth weight by their 2 week appointment. At her 5 day appointment, she was back up  to 6 lbs 11 oz... so we hope she has hit the lowest weight and is now on her way up!
Gigi and Ellie ... Love!
Our nanny Karinna is also so excited to have a little girl in the house!
Nose kisses with dad!

The boys hold Ellie everyday!!

I have been trying to give the boys jobs to help me- LJ has been very good at 'Paci-duty' and Evan gets me diapers!

Thursday afternoon we finally had our first non-doctor outing- a quick run to target!!
And when we got home, my friend Christine brought a cute Halloween surprise over for the boys: Ninja Turtle cupcakes (and Elmo and spiderwebs).  They loved them!!! Thanks so much Bean!!

Ellie is ONE WEEK today!!!

Sometimes the light hits her white streak just right and it looks like a bald spot!
Sleepy girl!
Gigi and I doing bath time! So far, it has been a little sad! She cries through a lot of her bath :( But she always falls asleep hard afterwards!
Barrett is the master- swaddle-er! He was the same with Evan!
She has been sleeping very well in the Rock and Play at night...

Well overall we had a great first week with our little Ellie!! She sleeps and eats all the time (along with lots of diapers changes!), but has been pretty easy so far! And we do get some times of her being very alert, wide-eyed and awake! She has even given us a couple 4-5 hour stretches of sleep at night, and taken 2-3 hour naps during the day.  Barrett was super helpful her first week, getting up with me in the middle of the night and holding her until she fell back asleep. And the boys seem to be doing really well with the adjustment so far- although I think it helps that we have had Gigi, other family, and friends around to entertain them! But I am so happy they have each other, and they are being gentle and sweet to Ellie.
