LJ's 4th Birthday Party- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Evan received a teenage mutant ninja turtle (TMNT) gift from the Benzons for his birthday (a little turtle and van set)- which LJ 'helped' him open and has pretty much had in his procession ever since! He became immediately and completely obsessed with the TMNTs! He decided right then (and probably since Evan had just had his) that he wanted a TMNT birthday party. And he told me soon after that where he wanted his birthday party to be- Jumpoline Park! He came up with the idea all on his own (I was actually throwing out several other suggestions and he brought this place up). So that made it easy for me- theme and location were picked in August by the birthday boy!!
I must say, 4 is an amazing age! He has been involved and excited about almost every step of his party! He loved seeing his invitations, he loved talking about which friends would be coming, he helped me put things in the favor bags, and he even understands the difference between his 'birthday party day' and his 'actual birthday'!
Here is his invitation:
So on Saturday, October 11, when I went to get him out of his room, he was so excited that it was his birthday party day!! It was a rainy morning, so perfect to have an indoor birthday party! As soon as we arrived (early so I could get everything set up), the boys were off to jump! This picture was taken later, but it is so cute! I love how they take care of each other!
Our little section at Jumpoline...
LJ's TMNT cake!
Happy little birthday boy!
Happy little Ben!!
After 1.5 hours of jumping, the kids were ready to eat!! I wish I had gotten a picture of the kids wearing their masks... many of them were running around wearing them and looked so cute (of course my boys had to have them on!). Not my best picture capturing day!
Kids waiting for cake!
Evan did a better job blowing out LJ's candle than he did at his own birthday party! Ha!
Ready for their piece!
Locke's icing face cracking us up!
Quincy, Emi, and Ines!
Left to right: Locke, LJ, Evan, James, William...
Such a fun group of wonderful kids! We are so lucky to have these people in our lives! Sad I didn't get a group shot, but here is who was there: Eagle Jr, Locke, Ben, Kate, Charley, Piper, Quincy, Emi, Ines, Thomas, William, James, Connealy, Duke, and of course LJ and Evan!
Tried to get a good shot of the boys before heading home, and luckily they were in a silly mood and ready to pose for me!
We decided to let LJ pick one gift to open before heading upstairs for rest time... he picked one he had gotten a peek into and knew their was TMNT gear in it! It was from the McDonnells...
Rafael combat gear!!! LJ had to put it on immediately, but then he saw that there was also a Rafael action figure. He let Evan have the gear so he could play with Rafael!
Boys!
Then after naps (rest time for LJ), he got to open the rest of his gifts! He was so excited!!! He truly loved every single gift!
Evan took care of Rafael while LJ was busy opening gifts!
A TMNT snuggie from the Robinsons! Hah!
This is what Barrett wanted LJ to have most of all- Legos just came out with a new size: Legos Junior. And they have a TMNT Lair building set! LJ's friends William and James (twins) got this for him... and he was SO excited to build it!
Evan was excited to try out his new snuggie!
As soon as everything was open, Barrett and LJ got right to LJ's new Lego Juniors set! They worked on it for an hour!
And both boys have had some form of combat gear on since opening the gifts! Even though they often wear the eye masks as head bands! Hah!
Evan started to feel a little left out, so I gave him his Lego Duplo set to work on while Barrett and LJ did theirs!
And then I opened the front door to find a surprise package with more gifts!!! Aunt Patsy and Auntie Lori sent the boys matching TMNT fleece pjs, robes, towels, and a puzzle! (I also got a cool new pampered chef tool to make hamburgers that I can't wait to use!). You did too much my precious Aunt and God mother! Love you and thank you!!!
LJ hasn't had a robe since he was too little to remember- he is pretty excited! Hah!
And we had to do the puzzle that night ...LJ loves puzzles (and he is really good at them!!). Putting in the last piece....
And DONE! That was a tough one!
What an exciting and full day! We have a lot of celebrating to do this week, and we feel so blessed to have our little 4 year old LJ to celebrate!
