Port Aransas May 2014

We had such a great time in Port Aransas with our wonderful friends/family the McDonnells (Mark, Sang, Ben, Kate) and the Robinsons (Eagle, Laura, Eagle Jr, Locke) over New Year's Eve, that we decided to redo the trip to start our summer!

We picked up LJ from school on Thursday and hit the road! We love our now working DVD player in my car with headphones, so LJ can listen to the movie in the back while Barrett and I can listen to other things up front! Unfortunately, Evan won't wear the headphones yet, but he is happy to just sit and watch the screen. And he immediately fell asleep in the car for his afternoon nap!

We arrived at our condo (the exact same one from NYE) in time to unpack and eat dinner with everyone.

The boys slept well the first night, and I woke up to LJ out of his tent and looking out the window in his room saying, "Oh wow, look at that! Hi Birds!" Haha! I took a picture of my view in our monitor. He cracks me up!
Downstairs for a quick breakfast before heading to the beach!
These boys are ready to go check out the ocean! Hurry mom and dad!
Well, I did NOT plan for the cold front in Port A that weekend! Poor boys were happy to be there, but it was windy and cold!
We tried to keep them out of the water while it was so cold, and thankfully they were excited to dig and play in the sand.

But then they wanted the ocean! So glad Barrett was willing to go in with them, because I couldn't handle how cold it was!

It was hard to keep these boys out of the water - especially LJ!

Working on digging a big hole!
Evan woke up from his nap saying, "Go see Uncle Joe!" over and over! What?! He is a little obsessed with his uncle!
After naps, we got in the pool (also coooooold!) for a while before dinner. Evan has been watching LJ at swim lessons all year and has been dying to get in the pool too. So when he finally got his chance, he ran into the water quickly (beach entry pool)! It was almost scary how brave he was! And he did NOT want to get out of that cold water! These boys are ready for summer and swimming (I just need some warmer water first!).
Evan relaxing on the couch before bed with Uncle Mark! He had his arms up just like Mark for the longest time, but of course by the time I found my phone and took the picture he moved them. It was really cute though!
LJ tickling his brother!
The best beach trip dog, Angel, taking a snooze on Barrett's foot!
Ben and LJ got to stay up a little later since they took late naps. Gigi sent us videos of them flying over the weekend (they were at fighter plane flight school in Fredrickberg), and both boys were obsessed with the videos! We had to watch over and over! Thanks Gigi!
Saturday morning we went back to the beach! A little warmer today thank goodness!

Evan watched Mark and Barrett play football for a long time the day before, and he really improved his form as a result! I am really impressed with him! He loves playing so much too!

Barrett has his ball throwing buddy!! (LJ has not ever really been too interested in this- and Evan is obsessed!)
He is much more into playing with thing like cars, planes, legos, or reading!
Back into that cold water! Thank goodness for dads!
Evan helping us work on the hole!
Taking a break and having a snack!
Mark and Sang still at work!
After nap jam session (Evan is wearing a pink guitar).
Eagle Sr and Locke resting on the couch.
Eagle Jr and his always inspirational attire!
We enjoyed another afternoon of swimming in the cold pool (although everyone else seemed to get tired of the cold before my die-hard boys)! And then another great dinner outside.

LJ seemed very worn down, and had the beginning of a cold I think from hanging in the ocean water and breeze for so long. We put everyone to bed earlier, and enjoyed our last night up staying up late with our friends playing poker!

Our last morning was spent packing up and getting ready to head back to Austin. But we had to make one stop before hitting the road and the big shark mouth!

Evan relaxing in the teeth!

Sliding down the throat!

And then the trip was over! We had a good drive home - and made it before naps (which were over 3 hours for all the boys in the house!!).

Thanks to our great friends for such a fun weekend! Can't wait to do it again!
