Meet Baby #3! First Trimester- Size Comparison and update

If you missed the blog about finding out we were pregnant (and want to read the story), go to: http://woodfamfun.blogspot.com/2014/05/las-vegas-and-day-we-will-never-forget.html

In each pregnancy, I have read daily and weekly emails (and books) describing how the baby is developing that day/ week. And each week, they compare the size of the baby to a fruit or vegetable. So this pregnancy, I decided to attempt a weekly picture with the fruit or vegetable that is the average size of my baby at that week gestation. It has been fun to see and hold the fruit and realize a little baby is that size growing in me in each week! Although, Barrett has had a hard time eating whatever the fruit or veggie is for that week (I don't at all!!)!

I started at week 5 since I didn't realize I was pregnant until late in Week 4!

My first trimester was pretty rough! I was very sick from just before 7 weeks until, miraculously at 13 weeks, 2 days, my sickness went away!! After weeks of getting sick on a daily basis, I woke up one Friday morning feeling great! It's so amazing to just NOT feel awful anymore!

We are definitely thinking that this is our last pregnancy, so I hope to enjoy all of it (and not worry about what is happening to my body!!). At the end of the first trimester, I definitely look like I have gained a little weight- but I think I look more fat than actually pregnant! I am still working out pretty much the same as pre-pregnancy, and I am still able to wear most of my clothes (although this last week they are getting a little tight!).

Doctor's Appointments:

Our first appointment and ultrasound was at 11 weeks pregnant! This is later than the last times I have been for the first time, so I was surprised how big Baby already looks!

Probably just a photo delusion, but I feel like I see a little face there! Haha!

Baby looks great- thank God! Heart beat was so fast- 164 bmp!! I think that's the fastest we have ever heard!  Also, my blood work showed that I have 'sub-clinical hypothyroidism'. Basically, my thyroid hormone levels are in the normal range for a non-pregnant person, but lower than preferred for a pregnant one! So I am on medicine now, and probably will remain on it for at least the duratin of my pregnancy.

Our second appointment was on May 7- at exactly 15 weeks gestation (and officially a week into second trimester). They had a hard time finding the heart beat (which will always make my heart drop!), so after 3 nurses and the doctor couldn't find it, they did a quick ultrasound! Exhale- a strong heart beat at 154 bpm. My mom came in town for the appointment (best mom ever- thanks so much for being with me!), and so actually is was fun to be able to get the unexpected ultrasound! We got to see that little baby kicking around for just a minute! So cute!

Next appointments will be in late June- the big anatomy appointment so more ultrasounds coming!  We opted out of getting any early testing for genetic diseases this time around, so this will be our first assurance of the babies health (when they count all the fingers and toes, look at the brain, chambers of the heart, etc!) We will keep praying for a healthy baby every day (and all prayers welcome here!).
