Adventures with Kate

Our great friends The McDonnells were in Houston because their son had surgery up there early in the week. They had a follow-up appointment on Friday, and expected to head straight home after. However, the doctor said they would need another follow up appointment on Monday, so they had to stay up there through the weekend.  Well, I can only imagine how hard it was for them to have Ben and Kate (who is walking all over the place!) cramped up in a hotel room all week- and with totally different needs (Kate wanting to get out and play and Ben needing to recover).  And since I adore Kate, and we were in Houston for a wedding on Saturday anyway, I asked Sang if we could pick up and keep Kate until they got back to Austin on Monday..... And they let us take her!! I was so excited, and it was such an honor for them to let us watch her! And... I got a little girl fix!!

Three car seats in the back of Barrett's car... chaos! Poor Evan (sitting in the middle and next to LJ) had to deal with the most (especially from LJ!)... but after we turned a movie on for LJ, he let the little ones rest and they both passed out!

LJ never did though... he is saying "NO pictures" here!

LJ was obsessed with Kate her entire stay...

Little Evan crawling all over trying to keep up with the other two!
Happy little monkey #1!

Happy little monkey #2!
Right before this picture, LJ ran up to be and said "Mom, I better go tell Kate I love her!" And he ran to her, told her he loved her, and gave her a hug! It was so cute!!

Evan making his typical run for the stairs!

How can I get mad at that little face?!
Kate helped me put a new booster seat together so we could all eat together!

Dinner time!

Precious little girl!!

I quickly learned that Kate is just like Evan with a plate!

Bath time!!! It was my first time bathing 3 at once (Barrett was on dressing duty- I handed them out and he would start lotion, etc until everyone was done!)!
Went well and everyone had fun!

A clean little princess!

A little more playing before story time and bed....

Since we don't have a third camera for the baby monitor, we put Kate in the pac n play in my closet to sleep (so I could hear her if she got up)... and I must say, what amazing little babies we have! The whole time Kate was with us, everyone slept 11-12 hours at night and took a 2-3 hour nap on Sunday! I think they wore each other out! It was awesome!

Happy Sunday!!!
Little ones drinking their bottles while I made breakfast...
Heading to church!

I did my best to match them... I just can't help it!!!

Kate did great in church!! Since she is walking, she wasn't in the same room as Evan. But the people their said she was so cute and a little chatter box!!
Then we headed to Hat Creek for some play ground time and lunch...

Lunch crew!!

Too cute!

Evan's first french fry (I know I am not mother of the year!)... but he loves them! I could barely get him to eat anything else after he tasted that!!

LJ's first question when he woke up from his nap was "WHERE'S Kate?!!"

Kate helping me put our new stools together... she actually went and picked out the toy drill all by her self and brought it over!!! I thought that was SO cute!  She is a little genius!!
Snack time...

LJ put on his mask- and refused to take it off for about 2 hours!

More snacks and playing...
A cute moment (one of many!!)  between Barrett and Kate!

Evan's newest obsession: Raisins!!! He loves them!

Needed a few groceries after being out of town, so I decided to take LJ and Kate with me for the outing (notice the mask is still on!!)

They both insisted on a pouch...

LJ trying to teach Kate how to do Buddy bucks...

Kate's turn!!

BUT a 2 year old can only be patient for so long... sorry Kate!

We got home from the store, had a good dinner, another fun bath, and then Karinna (our nanny) took over bedtime (just bedtime left) so Barrett and I could have our date night.  The kids all slept 11-12 hours again- everyone in bed by 7:50 pm and not a peep from anyone until 7:20 am! And I actually had to wake Kate up at 8:25 so I could get her fed and out the door in time to drop LJ off at his first day of Gymnastics camp!

After I got LJ into his camp, I met the McDonnell's sitter at their house to drop off Kate... our adventure together had come to an end :(

Kate seemed happy to be home and seemed to be showing me all her 'stuff'! It was cute!

Evan playing with Kate's toys as we waited for the sitter to get there...

Final good bye hugs for Kate!
We love you Kate (all of us!!) and had a blast with you! Please come stay with us again ANYTIME!!! And thank you Mark and Sang for trusting us with you precious treasure of a little girl!! She is smart, beautiful, so well behaved... just perfect!
