LJ's Art, Writing, and his Book
LJ has come such a long way the last year in his coloring, drawing, writing, and 'spelling things out'. Here is some of his work from the last 6 months or so...
Told him to work on his letters one day- he wrote the alphabet (bottom of page), then practiced faces, names, , etc!
The note below: LJ was busy writing in the corning of the living room at Capi and Gigi's house in January, and I said, "LJ! What are you doing?! Time for bed!" And he said, "Mom, I was writing you a note about what I was doing!"
The note is meant to say:
Where is Evan Blanket
LJ Find it LJ cannot find it
LJ often writes all our family names on his papers/ drawings, etc!
This is a card he randomly made one day. It says:
LJ 'loves' (via a heart) Ben Kate McDonnell.
This picture was from many months ago, but the first one that I realized how well he is coloring- staying in the lines and using different/ correct colors! I was so impressed! Not sure when he got so good at this, but his coloring really impresses me now!!
He colored Superman very specifically for his Dad while we were at the gym one day!
This was a book LJ brought home from school. He is very into making these books (with 10 stables on the side holding it together!). I LOVE them all- but this one is my favorite so far!
The Big Blue Rat. By LJ Wood
The Rat was swimming
The Wolf was looking for the rat. The wolf found the rat.

LJ makes me laugh so much! One day, he was up early with me, and he got busy with his notebook and markers. When I asked what he was working on, he told me he needed to make a list for our day! (I always have lists around me!).
He said he wanted to check off every part of his day- so he drew circles next to each item that he could put a check-mark in after it was complete! The list says:
Well, actually the first things he drew instead of spelling out! So the top picture is eating breakfast with fruit and pancakes on the plate. Then
Then the words start:
Preschool
Rest-time
Trampoline
Jaime
Dinner
Bath time
Book
Bed
One day we were talking about Spring Break, and I asked him to draw a picture about our plans. He did this note instead! He loves his friend Thomas so much and often writes his name on his work too (he also writes Evan's name on a lot of is work)! But this day, he included Thomas' Spring Break plans too! Haha!
It says:
I am going to the beach. And I think Thomas is going to the Beach
Then he wrote on the back: LJ, Dad, Mom, Evan, Ellie
During quiet time (when Ellie and usually Evan are napping), LJ loves to have iPad time (he watches shows, does puzzles, and plays a math game on there). But I try to get him to do about 30 minutes of other things first - like coloring, drawing me pictures, working in a workbook or writing notes/ cards.
Here is a picture he drew one day of a guy playing basketball. I love the basketball hoop (with rim and everything - he explained all the details in the picture- pretty cool!). And there is a dog between the guy and the tree!
More art work from school and church...
This side of is the caterpillar (green) and then the chrysalis (what we used to call the cocoon!) when folded, then (next picture) is the butterfly! He loved this project!
He brought this to me one day! Good spelling!
These are workbook pages he does! I love how he colors everything too!
He decided to write to Gigi one day during rest time- she was coming to visit that day.
Helicopters by Ellie (top), Evan (middle), and LJ (bottom)...
This birthday card was done all by himself- I did n't help with any spelling or anything!!
Says: Happy Birthday Lennon. 'Love' (via a heart) LJ
