LJ's 5th Birthday Party, Family Celebration, and Birthday!

We have had such a fun time celebrating our precious 5 year old boy! This boy LOVES his birthday, and has been excited about it for months!!! He decided many months ago that he wanted to have a Superman birthday party, and he wanted it at the same place he had it last year- Jumpoline!  We decided to have it the weekend before his birthday to give us more of a break between his and Ellie's birthdays, so it was on Saturday, October 10.

Here is the invitation (online is my preference for these things!):

I just loved the three minutes it took to get these photos! He is SO into being a superhero with all the motions, noises, and faces! He was cracking me up!

Superman stuff was particularly difficult to find, so we had more of a superhero theme with Superman colors :)  He asked if he could invite all his friends from school to his party, and we decided to let him. I figured between TX-OU game and ACL many wouldn't be able to come, but almost everyone did!!! It was so exciting for him!!!

His cupcakes:
I am losing my mind and somehow decided I had put a start time of 5 pm for the party... so we ended up showing up 10 minutes late versus the 20 minutes early I had planned... but it all turned out fine (a special thanks to Sang for picking up wrist bands and getting them to the kids!!!). Sorry LJ!
A couple action shots! I wasn't very on top of pictures this year, but you can see the entire room of trampolines and all his friends playing!

  Ellie and Aunt Sang!
Precious friends Kate, Ben, and Piper!

Time to eat and sing! I thought it was so funny that after about an hour of jumping and running, all the kids came back to the table on their own, thirsty and hungry! Thank goodness the pizza arrived shortly after! We had over 20 kids wanting their dinner!!!
 Time to sing Happy Birthday!!

Aunt Sara was in town and so helpful! She held Ellie a lot of the party for me (and Ellie was so happy about it!!).

 Show us those colorful tongues!!!
Home to open a huge pile of gifts! We are spoiled!!!

LJ in his new night vision goggles, "Why is everything blue!!?" Haha!
His new Star Wars Legos from the McDonnells... how fun!
 Monday, October 12:

Grandad and Queenie came over before dinner at Jack Allen's to drop off LJ's gifts... he was excited about this all. day. long!!! He gave them big hugs, and then got right to work pulling out every item in the two big red bags! I couldn't believe how quickly and serious he was doing it! Hah!
Big hugs for Grandad- he LOVES all his gifts!!!
Then Gigi got to town for the night! We all headed to Jack Allen's for dinner. The Robinsons were also there. I knew this would be the only chance for Gigi, Queenie and Grandad to sing Happy Birthday to him, so we got an amazing dessert there - the kids ate it so fast!!! LJ's fanciest bday cake!!
f

LJ literally licked the plate at one point!!!

 Tuesday, October 13:

I tried to have the table all set up with balloons for LJ to wake up to in the morning... I went to bed with it looking like this:
But in the morning, the balloons had deflated on me :(  However, LJ didn't seem to mind!
After school, Gigi took us to Target so LJ could pick out his gift. When Gigi asked LJ what he wanted for his birthday, he asked for her to take him to Target so he could pick out his gift. He LOVES doing this! And of course, he picked (yet another) Imaginext Batman thing!

Attempting a picture with Gigi before she heads back to El Paso...

LJ requested pizza for his birthday dinner... he is his father's son!!! Easy for me and happy kids!! Just the five of us for his birthday dinner of pizza!
And of course, Gigi left us some cup-cakes so we could sing to him one more time!!

Before LJ could play with his toys, we did a thank you note together.  We sounded out all the words as I wrote them on a page, and then he wrote the whole page over all by himself! I was so proud of him! I especially loved at the end when he wanted to add a star (right top corner) and then labeled it!
I just made copies of the single page he wrote out as his thank you notes, and then LJ decorated each copy with stickers (mostly while wearing his new Flash costume from Queenie and Grandad!).
So blessed to have this precious FIVE year old in our lives!!!! Happy birthday LJ!!!
