Walking Mount Cristo Rey for Aunt Patsy's 75th!

At the top of a small mountain in New Mexico, there is a 29 foot statue of Jesus on the cross, and I have ALWAYS wanted to walk up to the top to see it in person. And I got to walk up with my Aunt Patsy... I must detour for a minute to tell a quick, beautiful story of my grandfather (dad's dad, whom I never met). After my dad's parents had my Uncle Lee, they were having a lot of trouble having a second baby. They had several miscarriages and were desperate for another baby. So my grandfather walked from his house, on the road to the mountain, then all the way to the top (and the trail was brand new and not very 'groomed'), prayed for a baby, and then walked all the way home- ALL BAREFOOT!!! My Siti (grandmother) said that his feet were swollen and bloody with rocks and everything else when he got home. And my Siti went from the back of the church to the front of the church on her knees.
Soon after this, my Siti was pregnant with my Aunt Patsy! She is the 'Miracle Baby'! So it was very special to do the 2.25 mile walk up the mountain with my sweet aunt on her 75th birthday!!!

I started the walk with my precious Tricia Ann and Brianna!
You can barely see the cross at the top of the peak in the middle of this picture... ! We have over 2 miles of walking to get there!
We had quite a crew!
Ron Lee and I at the top of a peak right next to the cross!
Here is the view of the cross from where we were standing...

At the top with my beautiful Godmother Lori!!
Excuse my weird face... had to get a selfie with the Cross!
And the view looking the other way!
LOVE THIS!!!

Here is my Runkeeper log... We were at the top of the mountain for a long time taking pictures, praying, etc...

What a special and fun morning ... I can't wait for the rest of my family to do this too!!!
