LJ's Ear Infection :(

When I picked up the boys from WHPP on Friday, as I put LJ into his car seat I noticed yellow fluid coming out of his ear! AHHH! I have heard of this, but never seen it! Poor guy obviously had a horrible ear infection! When I asked if if his ear was hurting, he said Yes! But he was happy as could be otherwise, no fever/ other symptom... Warning- gross picture below!

So we got him to the doctor immediately. He was excited to go to the doctor- just another outing! Here is he playing in the waiting room, and working on cards in our room.

Sure enough, he had a horrible ear infection in his left ear. His right ear was fine- and I even got to see inside his right ear. The tube he got in his ear a year ago is coming out of his right ear. The doctor said it's already out of his ear drum, and is now migrating through the canal and will probably end up on his pillow one day! It was a small green thing that I could see clearly with just a flash light! The left ear still has the tube in (it seems), but it was much harder to see with all the pus from the infection. The doctor said the tube may have helped with pain by allowing all the 'stuff' to drain out of his ear.

While we were at the doctor, we went ahead and got a few immunization shots (apparently we had gotten behind on some - probably confusion when we switched pediatricians last year).  LJ handled his shots very well! He insisted on watching the needle go in - all three times! And although he cried, he did get over it quickly (but we had to be very careful bathing him - he even skipped bath one night- and putting on clothes until all his bandaids fell off!)

His ear did get very soar over the weekend, and we had several days of pain (especially when I put his ear drops in 3 times a day). We gave him tylenol for pain, and are happy to report that by Tuesday we have our boys back 100%! That was the first ear infection he had since getting tubes though- which is so much better than last year!!!

Over his shots quickly and saying cheese in the car with his lollipop from the doctor!

We ran home to grab Evan (who slept at home with our housekeeper Leti while we went to doctor), and then went to Walgreens to get his prescription- and maybe a small prize for being so brave!

LJ picked out a Ninja Turtle!
Evan entertained himself with cups while we waited!
