Ellie's 2 Week Well-Check

Ellie is two weeks today!! And when I took her clothes off in the morning for her two week appointment, I was surprised to find her umbilical cord was gone!!! Yay (and finally!)! Although I still have no idea where it went (gross!). I am thinking maybe it fell off when I changed her diaper in the middle of the night - and maybe the dogs found it (gross again!). But at least it's gone!! Excited to start giving better baths, any outfit, etc without having to worry about the cord! Overall, we had a very positive 2 week appointment! Dr. Hargrave said she seems to be doing very well, looks very alert (she was awake during the entire appointment!), and is even on the advanced side of the number of expressions she makes (maybe she will be an early smiler!). The only mild concern was that she had not gained her birth weight back yet. BUT the doctor said not to worry yet since she seems to be happy and doing well otherwise, and we will talk more at her 1 month well check. She h...

El Paso Summer 2018

It's time for our annual long summer trip to El Paso... We drove down on a Tuesday- and it was our best drive yet! The kids are getting so much easier to drive with since they all love movies, music, podcasts, reading and coloring! They are pretty good at entertaining themselves! What a difference Ellie was from last year too!! Tuesday night was pretty low key... we got in, said hi to Grandma, ran to the store, made a quick dinner and got to bed. But then, poor LJ woke up our first morning there with a fever. Evan had just gotten over a 36ish hour fever bug, so at first we thought that is probably what LJ had. (But that evening, Gigi got a good look in his throat, and it seemed to be tonsillitis!) Ellie the queen! The pool project

During the summer, we realized our pool was losing more water than it should on a daily basis. We got a leak detection company out to the house, and sure enough, we had leaks in the hot tube and in all the plumbing pipes leading to the pool house. A significant amount of work would be needed to get everything fixed, and the pool would need to be drained for a few weeks to do it. We scheduled the repairs to be done mid-October. Then the night before LJ's birthday (and thankfully after his party on the 12th), Austin got a huge rainstorm. Our house got around 12 inches of rain in under 10 hours- and our pool looked more like a swamp when it was over :( It seems all the dirt from the hill just washed right into our pool. There is a drain in the area below that was clogged by leaves and dirt, but as soon as we move them, it drains within 2 minutes! We now know that several other drains have been covered with dirt, and this is the cause of all the flooding. While this was ...
