Thanksgiving Day 2016

Since Ellie woke up from her nap with a fever the day before Thanksgiving, we were unexpected home on Thanksgiving morning. So first thing in the morning, I got busy first thing in the morning getting the boys and I signed up for the Cedar Park Turkey Day 5K and Family Fun Run. I have always wanted to do a Turkey Trot, and never have! And I found out this one was 5 minutes from my house, not as crowded, and the family run was a 1k (less than a mile)- a perfect first race for Evan!

So while Barrett took Ellie to the doctor to make sure she didn't have an ear infection (or something treatable), the boys and I did our first race together!

Side note, Ellie did not have an infection! Just a little virus that was over that day! But she did get one last fever while at the doctor, slept it off, and was all better after nap time! Here is what our sick baby girl looks like ... not our crazy Ellie at all when she has a fever! This is one of two times she looked like this and the last time! Thank goodness such a short bug!

LJ and I did a diabetes race a couple weeks ago, so this was LJ's second race. Evan was so excited to join in!

The course went around this stadium... just a few minutes from our house!

Pre-race picture! LJ lent Evan his shirt (we had to order Evan and XS since they were out that day), and I think this may have been his favorite part! (until he got a medal!)

They both got so excited about the 'race' part, they took off at the start in a full sprint! The first half of the race consisted of running after each other as fast as they could and then walking until they were ready to sprint again! SO the second half of the race, Evan did not run as he was worn out! Haha!
LJ ran ahead of us but stayed in sight. We were about this far behind him when he crossed the finish line! And when Evan saw this finish line, he decided to run in! I was encouraging him, and he did it!! All the way across!
And my absolute favorite part, was LJ standing on the other side of the finish line, waiting for his brother and cheering and clapping for him!! Then they gave each other a huge hug when they met up! Heart melting!!!!

And of course they needed some post-race cookies!

After some relaxing at the house and naps, we headed to Grandad's and Queenie's house for Thanksgiving dinner! And of course, we were all Cowboy-ed out and ready to watch the game!!!
Handsome husband!
They really were happy - not sure why all these faces! Haha!

LJ made a sweet card for his grandparents. He told B and I he was very good at drawing turkeys, and we just smiled and said, "Great! Do one!" And then we were shocked at how great his freehand turkey was!!
Queenie had a delicious meal for us and worked way too hard.... and Grandad too!! We so appreciate all they did!!!
Ugh oh- Grandad got up and LJ snagged his seat pretty quick! Don't get too comfy there LJ!!! Haha!
  Ellie just wanted to rock!!
 Another fan!
And Uncle Joe joined us!!! Yay!
Ellie resting her foot like Queenie!
 Pie time!!!
  Silly girl!

 Cuddles with Queenie! Love this!
Had to try for a picture... Love all these people so much!

 I love this!
Thankful doesn't even begin to describe my heart today!!!
