Barrett's Half Marathon

So incredibly proud of my husband!! Last spring, he made the goal of running a half-marathon.  He claimed this after we watched a movie about running, and I smiled and said that would be awesome. He hasn't run very much or consistently since we have been together. But I know when this man puts his mind to something, he does it!! He is strong, determined, very competitive (especially with himself), and able to do absolutely anything he sets his mind to!

And so he started training- he ran 3 times a week for months, and before I knew it, he was doing an 11 mile run one Saturday! I was so impressed. Then unfortunately, he got hurt. The half he had been training for was in October, and he had a few weeks to go. I think he would have done it, hurt and all, but God intervened and the half got canceled the morning of due to rain!

So he recovered for a couple months, worked with a physical therapist, and in January he was ready to go again!! And go he did!!!!

On January 24th, before the sun rose, he was in north Austin ready to take off for the 3M Half Marathon!
I dropped him off at the start line, but got to go hang with him for about 30 minutes before the run started. It was so cold!! But he was pumped up and ready to run!

I went to the gym for a quick workout myself, and then waited at mile 11 to cheer on my man! I figured that was a good spot since that's the farthest he had gone before today! He looked great, was getting fatigued, but was going to make it!!! Yay!!!
But then I parked farther than I meant to, and I missed him crossing the finish line by 2 minutes!!! I text him that I was there waiting (camera in hand), and he was already done! Ugh! But I found him quickly. BEAMING WIFE!!! He did it!!!
13.1 miles in just over 2 hours!!!
Way to go Barrett- you made your whole family so proud today!!
