The 1st Week of June 2015: Sickness and Swim lessons!
Monday, June 1...
The boys started a quick ISR Refresher course- we had just a week before we leave town, so hopefully 6 lessons with Ms. Tiffany will be enough to get these boys swimming well again!
A little afternoon fun with the water table and hose!
Then Monday evening, after not eating well all day and being not quite herself, Ellie got a fever. I decided to run her over to Vik Medical, and we found out she had a bacterial infection like tonsillitis. We started her on antibiotics that night, and she was totally back to herself by Wednesday!
Patient girl drinking her milk while we waited for the doctor- it was almost her bedtime already :(
Tuesday: First swim lessons!
Ellie is already feeling better!
A pretty calm morning, but we did spend a little time getting fresh air!
She has her appetite back!
Wednesday:
Ironically, swim lessons at being held at LJ's great friend Hudson's house. So after our lessons, we went in and played with Hudson for a little while. They have an air hockey table that the boys loved!
I told the boys if they did great in swim lessons, we could go to the mall. I let them each make a little lego guy- they were so excited! LJ made about 10 and then had to pick his favorite!
Wednesday night our dear friend Shauna came over for dinner... We had a wonderful time as always with her... and obviously the kids did too!!!
Thursday:
Thursday morning Evan woke up with a fever. We called the doctor, and since Ellie had just been in and had the same symptoms, they just prescribed antibiotic over the phone. Since I needed to get LJ to his swim lesson, Barrett worked from home for an hour and let Evan rest/ watch a movie in bed. It took only a few minutes for him to fall back asleep in our bed! Poor sick baby!
Selfie at the swim lesson.... Evan had to miss today
Friday:
Thank goodness this is a fast bug.... Evan is already almost himself! He only had a fever in the morning, and then not another after it broke around 11 am!
Saturday morning sillies.... yes these are superman underwear on LJ's head! He asked for a picture of this (as he was getting himself dressed for his martial arts class with his dad)!
Evan is all better!
A little family picnic at Cedar Creek Park...
Enjoying our pool- finally!! The temperature was just perfect, and we had such a fun day swimming! LJ and Barrett got in the pool while the other two were still sleeping. LJ ended up swimming for almost 3 hours!
After a week of ISR refresher, he is swimming really well again!
Here is a video:
And Ellie got to swim for the first time...
LJ took these pictures of Ellie!
Monday morning- our last day of ISR Refresher (we head to El Paso tomorrow) ... Evan being silly as he waits for his turn to swim!
Videos of boys swimming.....
LJ:
After a week of refresher lessons, LJ was back to swimming all the way across the pool and back without help. His instructor (after seeing this video) was actually not super pleased with the fact that he is kicking/ moving while on his back instead of just resting/breathing, but this is something we can easily work on at home!! Overall, I am very happy with his progress!
Evan:
Evan really loves getting to jump in/ swim/ move. But because he loves actually swimming so much, we had to really focus and work on his roll over/ stopping to float and breath!! He wants to do things that he is really not skilled enough to do yet, and he expects someone to save him (which is the scariest thing possible- he will just jump in without hesitation!). So we have had to work on consequences with him! He is a great floater, and he did improve throughout the week. But we will have some work to do this summer! I didn't get the best video of him, but this is a good example! He begged to jump in, but then needed reminding to roll over and breath (which he had just been doing very well before he jumped in!).
Monday we met Monica, Benjamin and James at the park for a play date and lunch... and Ellie wanted to hang in the stroller with James for a while! Love these two cuties!
A quick selfie before bed... LJ is sadly not in the picture because he caught the bug :( Barrett took him to the doctor when he got home from work. It was definitely the same thing the other two have had- a quick bug with a little fever and soar throat. We started him on an antibiotic immediately so that he will be well in El Paso. Glad they all got it this week and not in El Paso!
