Welcoming Elizabeth Grace Wood to our Family!!!

What an absolutely, indescribably amazing week!!! I will start with the birthday of our third child on Thursday, October 23, 2014!

I had a C-section scheduled for noon, so Gigi came to town on Wednesday afternoon to be with us. And we had our nanny Karinna come over that morning to spend the day with the boys.

Our last pictures together as a family of 4!

We got to the hospital, got all checked in, and they started my IV/ fluids. They found very large scrubs for Barrett!
We had a visit from Sang and baby Charley while we were waiting to go into surgery. We thought it would be funny to take pictures with Charley's little pink bottom to pretend we had a girl! At this point, we were still thinking there was no way we would actually have a girl- so this was a funny joke! hah!
Then right after noon, they took me into the OR. They did the spinal and got me all ready for surgery without Barrett in the room. I was so emotional, I started crying as soon as they wheeled me in!  And EVERYONE in the OR was SO excited to see what gender baby would be joining us! It was really exciting!
I was so happy when they let Barrett join me! They said they would let him look and call out the gender as soon as the baby was out! Talk about pressure!!! So what seemed like just a short time later, they told Barrett to look over the curtain and tell me if a little girl or little boy would be joining our family! (and I must side note here, while we didn't have names decided on, the leading choice for a boy name was Cameron Barrett- with the idea of his nickname being 'Camo').

Barrett looked over the curtain and had a shot of the bent-over back side of our baby. He looked at me and said, "We have our Camo!"
I continue crying in joy- but notice a weird silence in the room. Babies are very swollen when they come out, and with the view Barrett had, he thought he was looking at a little boy!! But actually, we had a GIRL! So after about 20 seconds, our doctor said, "Why don't you try again dad!" Barrett looked again, and in disbelief, managed to get out, "It's a girl?!!" Then we both really started crying hard!!!  Shock and overwhelming emotion filled the room! Everyone - seemed like about 10 people in the room- all seemed so excited to share in our moment and our news! People really route for a girl when people have 2 boys at home!!

So SHE was born at 12:46 pm, weighing 7 lbs 3 oz and 18 in. Our smallest baby!!

Her first picture!

This surgery was also different than the last 2 in that Barrett and our new baby got to stay in the room with me the entire time while they stitched me up. At the other hospital, Barrett left with the babies, and I met him in the room after.  So after they were done with me, we all headed back to our room together. And unlike Seton Southwest, we were allowed visitors (just a very few) in our recovery room. They got to work on our new baby girl, cleaning her up, etc...

And then they put a bow on her little hat! How cute!!!!
The few people that came to see us in this room and meet our baby in her first hours of life included Gigi, Queenie and Grandad, and my friends Christine and Sara.  Sara was on her way out of town, so they just had a few minutes to see us. But it was very special!

Then we were moved to our 'Mom-and-Baby room where we would be staying the rest of our time at the hospital.
That evening, the McDonnells came by to meet her!!

The moms and dads with their baby girls!!!
And Sang brought us some new born outfits from Charley so our girl can have pink right away!!! She also brought us an adorable new Christmas outfit, paci, and pink basket!! This basket will be the first pink thing in her room!!!  Thanks so much!!

And her own special unique marking- a streak of white hair amongst all the black!!! 'Kissed by angels'!!!
Meanwhile, LJ and Evan were having  great time with Gigi and Karinna at County Line for dinner!
Her eyes are dark blue/ gray.... she is so cute!!
Big yawn!!!

I started to feel pretty nauseated on Thursday night, so we just shut it down early. But on Friday, we had a few more visitors! Christine came by again- yay! And she brought me my first post- pregnancy latte!

Then Kelly, Kate, and Lauren came by, and brought SO many absolutely precious outfits!!  Queenie and Grandad also came by, but I didn't get a picture :(

Another visitor was Robin, my friend from my bible study who is also a NICU nurse at Seton.  She was working Friday so came down on her break to see us and meet our baby! I had been to bible study the morning before delivery (Wednesday), where they spent a few moments at the end praying over me for the baby and our family. It was so special, and I feel so blessed to have this group of ladies in our life!

I fell asleep for a short time while Barrett went home to check on the boys, and I missed Londa and Lauren stopping by. But they did get to see our new baby, and they dropped off a bag of more absolutely precious outfits! We went from 0 to 10 quickly!!!
The boys asked Gigi to send us a picture of the eating their ice cream sundays on Friday night... don't think they miss us much when Gigi is taking care of them!

Friday night Eagle Sr got by to meet his new niece!

HER NAME:  Elizabeth Grace Wood

We finally decided on a name on Friday night! This was no easy task- We wanted a meaningful name!! Cameron - which had been a top choice- just didn't seem to fit her. Gigi had been pushing for naming a girl after my Aunt Nano- who was Francis Elizatbeth.  I wasn't feeling Francis, but LOVE Elizabeth (and it's meaning: 'My God is an Oath' or 'My God is Abundance').  And I loved Faith or Grace as a middle name... I wanted to show God how thankful we are for our healthy, beautiful, baby girl.  Then after a visit from our nieces, we thought naming her after both of them too (using each of their middle names) felt like the best fit! So, with a lot of excitement and a little hesitation, we settled on her name!! Elizabeth Grace Wood it is... with plans to call her Ellie!!!

We filled out the paper work but waited to turn it in until Sunday when we left... Just in case!

Saturday morning .... Sleeping angel!
Here is the doctor that brought our little girl into the world, Dr Harkins!
I loved getting pictures of the boys from my mom... They are obviously really missing me! Haha! In Gigi's bed having breakfast!
Practicing putting headbands on her... I have a lot to learn!!!

The boys came to visit us and meet their new sister!!!  Here is a video of when they first see her!!

Side note- Evan is wearing a batman mask- not a bow! haha!
Boys had a couple gifts waiting for them... some from us and planes and coloring books from the McDonnells! Thanks again- big hits!!

The boys brought Ellie a cute little pink doll!

The boys are so excited to have a sister!!!

A video of Evan and Ellie...

My favorite line: Can I pet him!!!

Shot of her white streak!
Saturday Barrett spent the afternoon and evening with the boys at home and had Eagle and his boys over for pizza. So Gigi and Alexa came to visit Ellie and I in the hospital!

Sunday morning, we started getting organized and ready to head home!  The ONE pink outfit I bought is actually getting used!! Along with a new headband!! Yay!!
Not our best pictures- but her face cracks me up! She has so many expressions already!

Ready to go home!!
Right into Gigi's arms when she got home! Gigi hadn't held her yet because she was worried she was getting over a cold. But she is better now and can hold her grand-daughter!!
Evan was excited to have her home too!

Trying out her new rock and play... this is the only new 'equipment' we have for Ellie!

And then a huge surprise... Capi walked in the door!!!!
And Joe came over and made us a fabulous dinner! Sad I didn't get a picture of Ellie and Joe! A wonderful end to such a big weekend! Welcome to our family Ellie- we are SO HAPPY to have you!!!
