Evan is 18 Months

Our precious little Evan is already a year and a half!

We actually made it to the pediatrician on his 18 month birthday too! Below are his stats and a comparison with LJ's at the same age (pretty big difference!!):

Evan
Height     31 5/8  in;        25 %
Weight    24 lbs, 14 oz;    50-75%
Head Circumference   48.2 cm;  75%

LJ (18 months, 5 days)
Height     33 in;           50-75%
Weight    28 lbs, 9.6 oz;    75-90%
Head Circumference   49.5 cm;  90%

What is he up to these days?!
- He is a chatter box- but it's still a lot of babble! He is starting to repeat us more and more though. Some words we hear most often include: mama, dada, ugh-oh, bar (referring to breakfast bar he loves), more (Mo), bath time, ice cream, Gigi (close), that (he points to whatever he wants/ is talking about), BA (don't know why, but he loves screaming this), also 'BA' is ball (his favorite thing!), LJ, Da for dog. BUT this last week I do think he has starting making big progress in his vocabulary!
- He also knows what several of the letters of the alphabet say (from watching Letter Factory with LJ).
- He ALWAYS loves to say hi and bye (with blowing a kiss!). And he always signs 'Please' and 'thank you' for whatever he wants/ gets. He is a polite little man!
-He still signs a lot! And he usually doesn't speak with his signs (which LJ always did)- he signs silently! Haha! Just goes to show every child is different! LJ was saying and signing so SO many words at this age- Evan is definitely on a different track!
- Although he doesn't say as much, he understands most of the things we say!! You can tell him to go find something and he will bring it to you. Or go get a ball and make a basket- he will! He answers all yes/ no questions with a big nod of his head in the appropriate direction. He has strong opinions and finds ways to communicate them- even without actual words!
- Happy little guy most of the time, but he has just started throwing little tantrums (although not often). When he mad, he will throw things, pick them up, only to throw again! It's sad but also kind of funny :)
- Just got his 5th tooth a week and a half ago! Even slower teether than LJ! Looks like 2 more will be popping through soon though...
- Loves playing with LJ! LJ is still a little more rough on him than I'd like sometimes, but Evan is handling it much better (he is going to be a tough little guy!), and they are so cute when they play!
- Outside is his favorite place to be! He literally goes to the door and bangs on it (or cries if being fussy) until we go outside... and then it's all smiles! He loves shoveling, sliding, playing on the basketball court, going in the play house, exploring the yard... anything and everything outside!
- Very good sleeper! Usually 12 hours at night (7:30-7:30) and a 2-3 hour nap. He is trying to drop his morning nap, but sometimes (maybe 1-2 times a week) gets a quick cat nap in the car. He also is very patient when he wakes up in his crib and will sometimes play in there for a while before I realize he is awake!
- He eats almost everything, and loves eating! The first thing he does in the morning or after nap is sign 'eat'!
- He knows all the parts of his face and some body parts; He will point to or touch then when asked (mouth, nose, ears, eyes, tongue, knees, toes), but he doesn't say the parts out loud yet.
- He signs all animals, says a few (dog, ca, ffff  for fish, etc), and does some sounds (although, he really thinks pigs are dogs too! He always gets very excited to sign dog when he sees a pictures of either a dog or a pig! Funny!).  He definitely knows the cow says moo, sheep says baaa, dog says ruff, but many others are hit or miss so I am not sure if he has lucky guesses sometimes or actually knows them :)
- Evan loves watching shows- maybe too much! We usually watch Curious George around here in the mornings because LJ loves it so much and always asks to watch it... but Evan now begs / insists on it too! He gets in his high chair and signs monkey while pointing to the tv! It's really funny and cute! Then when I ask "Do you want to watch Curious George?"  he gets so excited, smiling and shaking his head yes!! Barrett and I just realized, though, that maybe he is trying to talk like a George the monkey (MMMM, grunts, etc)- so maybe we need less of this in the mornings!!
- He also loves Signing Time, Letter Factory, My Baby Can Read... really he will watch anything we put on!
- He still does great when I drop him off at the gym or at church, etc. He always has fun and entertains himself very well. I am so lucky for this!

Will post pictures of our precious 1.5 year old soon!

Here are comments from his 17 month birthday that I never got to post! Many still true...
A few things:

- Evan still has only 4 teeth!
- Hanging on to the morning nap! He will go a week without one, then fall asleep in the car for about 20-30 minutes for a few days in a row!
- Dropped bottles right after 16 month bday and had only sippy cups since then! But he still LOVES his milk! Loves milk so much more than he ever liked formula or breastmilk! He will always take a sippy cup with milk in it, and cries for it when he sees it (and signs milk and please repeatedly until he gets his cup!).
- Sleeps with 2 paci's in his bed, and loves them!
- Had a giraffe lovey that he really loved, but we lost it over xmas travel and can't find it (or a new one to buy). I think I am more sad than Evan!
- Sleeps so well- 2-3 hour naps most days and 12 hour nights. Puts himself to sleep and  plays in crib until I go get him (morning and nap).
- LOVES hugging!!!
- Says only about 15 words-but signs a lot! And understands more than we know! You can ask him to go get you the remote, or a ball, or go make a basket, or pick up something and throw it away... he knows and will do all of this and more! Just won't talk about it! He also doesn't really talk while signing (which LJ always did- he just signs!).
- Loves balls, being outside, bath time. Bonds with men (Uncle Joe, Grandad, Capi, Sergio)...
- Occasionally cries when I drop him off at the gym or church child center, but always gets over it quickly and does great the rest of the time.
