Pete the Cat Birthday party

LJ's friend and classmate from this last year, Sydney, had a Pete the Cat (children's book) themed birthday party at Book People. LJ and his cousin Eagle- who both LOVE dressing up in things- were pretty happy with all the props!



































Evan and his little cousin Locke (Eagle's baby brother) had a great time chatting it up too!

Ellie's 2 Week Well-Check

 Ellie is two weeks today!! And when I took her clothes off in the morning for her two week appointment, I was surprised to find her umbilical cord was gone!!! Yay (and finally!)! Although I still have no idea where it went (gross!). I am thinking maybe it fell off when I changed her diaper in the middle of the night - and maybe the dogs found it (gross again!). But at least it's gone!! Excited to start giving better baths, any outfit, etc without having to worry about the cord! Overall, we had a very positive 2 week appointment! Dr. Hargrave said she seems to be doing very well, looks very alert (she was awake during the entire appointment!), and is even on the advanced side of the number of expressions she makes (maybe she will be an early smiler!). The only mild concern was that she had not gained her birth weight back yet. BUT the doctor said not to worry yet since she seems to be happy and doing well otherwise, and we will talk more at her 1 month well check. She h...

Evan's first steps

Evan took his first steps on September 18- just after his 13 month bday!! In the last 2 weeks, we have seen up to 10 steps in a row- but he is still not in a big hurry to walk alone!  He want's to walk all over the house- all over every where- but he really wants to hold at least one hand while he is doing it! As soon as you let go, he drops down to floor.  I have tried tricking him and getting him to hold a marker or something else instead of my finger, but it really doesn't work very well- he can tell when I let go, and then he just drops! He does love walking though... he is so happy when he takes steps and loves a big hug when he gets somewhere! I expect he will take off very soon! LJ took his first single steps a little sooner (right before his 1st bday), but he didn't really walk around until after he was 14 months. We will see how quickly Evan gets there!! Here is the first video I have gotten (I am always too busy cheering and catching to get it on video!).....

Evan is 8 months and LJ is 2 1/2!

How quickly time is flying by! We have an 8 month old and a 2 1/2 year old here!!  Evan: Monthly highlights: - Saying "Mama" and "Dada"... and we even think he might know who is who! He looks at Barrett and says "Dada" and then the other day while he was doing that, I grabbed him and asked "And who am I?"  He said "Ma ma ma"!!! Maybe coincidence- but we are counting it! Lots of babbling - and still the most high pitch squeals ever (can't believe our windows aren't all broken!).  - We've finally seen a few rolls (although only a few!) - Still standing well while leaning on things, loves jumping, sits perfectly (unless LJ knocks him down), smiles at everyone, and laughs a lot! - Still waking up at least once a night for a bottle :(  - Most days he takes 2-3 naps ... 1-2 in the morning (either one long one or 2 short ones if we are on the go) and a longer afternoon nap - Eating more foods, and s...
