A Visit to the El Paso Zoo- Our first time!

We started out the year with a family outing to the El Paso Zoo- and my good friend Sara, Ava, and Oliver joined us!  Oliver and Ava had been there before so he was our tour guide!  We were pleasantly surprised by how many great animals were there! We will definitely be going back! Lots of zebras- and they were hanging ostriches... LJ just observing while Gigi points things out... Oliver and LJ checking out Zebras... Ok the giraffes were definitely MY favorite- watching them drink water was so funny (and a little sad!)...  Gigi, LJ, and Ava looking at the funny little animals... Just funny... Lobos!! The world's largest rodent- gross! Looking at the reptiles... There were also lions, tigers, lots of birds, sea lions, and more!! Think we had more fun than LJ- but hopefully he will be more excited every time we go!

LJ's Art, Writing, and his Book

LJ has come such a long way the last year in his coloring, drawing, writing, and 'spelling things out'. Here is some of his work from the last 6 months or so...  Told him to work on his letters one day- he wrote the alphabet (bottom of page), then practiced faces, names, , etc! The note below: LJ was busy writing in the corning of the living room at Capi and Gigi's house in January, and I said, "LJ! What are you doing?! Time for bed!" And he said, "Mom, I was writing you a note about what I was doing!"  The note is meant to say:  Where is Evan Blanket LJ Find it    LJ cannot find it LJ often writes all our family names on his papers/ drawings, etc!  This is a card he randomly made one day. It says: LJ 'loves' (via a heart) Ben Kate McDonnell. Advent Books

LJ's amazing Aunt Kelly her family gave him a very special gift this year... 25 days of 'advent' books... He gets to open a new book every day! We have been opening these and his advent chocolates every day right after nap time (his grumpiest time of the day), and it has been a great way to get him in a better post-nap mood quickly!! And by the time the book is opened, we have a happy boy! - The Wood Family
