Ellie the 4 Month Old
Ellie is 4 months!!
She is such a happy, sweet baby! She smiles all the time, crinkles her nose, and kicks with joy! She does tummy time for much longer now - up to 10 minutes, and is slowly likely her jumperoo more and more (getting up to 10 minutes of time in there too- although she doesn't really reach well enough to jump yet). She sits in her bumbo, plays on her activity mat, sits in her new Chicco chair at our table while we eat, and loves being worn in the Bjorn carrier as I shop, walk around house, or play outside with the boys!
Sleep:
She still takes 1-2 naps in the morning (a longer 2 hour nap if at home or 2 short ones if out and about), and then a 2-3 hour afternoon nap starting around 2 pm most days. We moved her bedtime to 7:30 pm, and she usually sleeps (with 1-2 feedings) 12 hours.
The Paci:
She started sleeping worse/ getting up (or getting me up- she goes immediately back down once paci is re-inserted!) more often as she became more dependent on her paci- even as much as every 2 hours! So we decided to quit the paci cold turkey one Saturday night. She went to bed only fussing for a few minutes, but then cried off and on for a few hours in the middle of the night. It was awful for me to listen to. We went a whole week trying to do this- most times she would go to sleep (nap and bed) with very little crying (often none at all), but the middle of the night, after her night time feeding, was the worst! She would not really every go back to sleep well from about 1- 3 am on! She did have a few good nights in the middle- but then it went back to hours of fussing! So after the 8th night of trying to tough it out, I changed my mind and gave her the paci back!! She has done a little better, but I just decided I would rather get up and put the paci in every 2 hours than listen to 2 hours of fussing! I am not cut out for that! So now we are just really hoping she learn how to put that thing back in her mouth ASAP!!
Eating:
I got a horrible stomach bug and my milk supply dropped pretty significantly, so Ellie is on about 1/2 breast milk and half formula now. She gets almost all bottles through out the day, and nurses through out the night and in the morning while we are home. She is eating about 20 ounces of milk/ formula during the day, so I would guess about 23-28 ounces of milk a day.
Milestones:
She is definitely more interactive, recognizing people, and starting to get a little separation anxiety when I hand her to new people.
Laughs! They aren't hard laughs yet, but we have gotten to hear the beginning of some cute giggle sounds!
No rolling either direction- but she actually seems closer to rolling from her back -to -tummy (which is opposite of most babies).
She can 'sit' for about 2 seconds (if that even counts!).
We had her well check on her 4 month birthday! Evan went also so he could get his 2.5 year well check. Both did so well- happy the entire time (except for a few minutes of tears when Ellie got her vaccines).
Evan is just saying "NO don't take my picture... " He is going through a no- picture taking phase, but he was actually very happy the whole time!
Ellie recovered quickly from her shots and was back to her happy self! Sorry for the pokes sweet girl!
