Safari Greg Playdate

Image
We found a mom's group through a church we have been trying out, and they have organized play dates every Tuesday. This was sort of amazing since Tuesday is the one morning we have wide open! So I will be trying to make them to see how they are! The first one we tried was a visit from Safari Greg! The boys had seen him at their school last month, and loved him! LJ remembered some of his tricks, but he was still so excited to see him again! Ellie was entertained by some of it, and my diaper bag and food entertained her the rest of the time!  Hi-five from Safari Greg!  Boys got to pet the snake!  Ellie wanted to support!   Fun morning!

Buzz Cuts for the Wood Men

As I was making breakfast on Saturday morning, LJ came down the stairs with a sly look on his face, and it only took me a moment to realize half his hair had been unevenly cut off! AHHH! Wish I had gotten a better picture- but this one gives an idea! He got extremely close to his scalp in about 3 spots, and some of it was un-touched! It was a mess.   So we got ready a little more quickly than expected, and headed to a barber shop before soccer, where they gave LJ his first buzz cut!  He was a little lighter as we walked into soccer on Saturday morning!    LJ had been in a strange, sort of melancholy mood that week, and we know he has been dealing with the move/ not seeing all his friends in his own way. So we didn't get overly angry, we just focused on him not doing that again, why it was dangerous, and to ask for things first.  But he still seemed a little melancholy :(  So the next night while having dinner with the McDonnells, ...

Fun with Geodes

LJ has library day every Monday at school, and lately he has been bringing home National Geographic books. So when he brought home the Rocks and Minerals books, I thought it was a perfect time for one of our science experiments!  After we read all about geodes and minerals, we got some geodes of our own to break open!  Safety goggles and a hammer... this probably took about 30 hits to break it!!  Success! We had quartz crystals in our rock!  Excited boys!  And then we got to grow our own crystals...  One week later, we had crystals all over our dish!

Nitro Swim Lessons & another park!

Now that we have Tuesday and Thursday mornings free, we are able to do more activities with the boys! So this week, they started at Nitro Swim School, Capital Gymnastics, and Soccer-zone (which is actually on Saturdays).  They were so excited about every activity, and both did very well (I will post more about each one)!! Swim was the first new activity we started, and they were so ready to get into that pool! They got new goggles (required for the class) and were being so silly as they waited for their lesson!           LJ asked for this picture!  Ellie was her crazy self! Busy, going through my purse and bag, and cheering her brothers on!!  The boys had their own instructor (the ratio will always be no more than 3 kids to an instructor!). They basically go through a check list of 10 skills (called stations) they must master before moving onto the next level class (they are in Nitro 1 right now).  Station 10...
