ENT Appointment

Image
After our pediatrician found fluid and pus in LJ's left ear at his well check last week, we decided to get a follow up appointment with an ENT, Dr. Russell Briggs. We have fought fluid in LJ's ears and infections a lot!  Basically from last October/ November 2012 until his last bad infection at the end of April, he was never able to totally clear the fluid from both ears. And he had about 5 infections within the year (that we caught).  This is painful, terrible for their ears, could cause permanent damage if it gets too bad (like hearing loss), and I also hate putting him on antibiotics too often. And we had him on a nasal steroid for about 6 months trying to help him drain his nasal congestion better. We feel like we 'lost' our baby quite often last winter, as his personality would change (obviously from being uncomfortable from the ear pain), he stopped sleeping well, especially nap time, and would wake up screaming. The reason we never put tubes in his ears last y...

LJ's Preschools' Open Houses

Image
LJ will be attending two schools this fall- in the 2's Preschool class at both, and both of them had their 'Meet the Teachers' open house events today. We started the morning at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Preschool (WHPP), where LJ will be going to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. His teachers seem wonderful, I love the room, and it is literally 3 minutes from our house! In fact, there is a wall of windows, and the view from the windows is of the same canyon you see from our house, just from the other side! His teacher, Ms. Janice, is originally from Scotland, has a great accent, and as Barrett said, if you close your eyes, it feels just like you are in the room with Mrs. Doubtfire! I can't wait to hear the funny things LJ repeats from her! And she has had the same assistant for 5 years, Ms. Mary Cay, who also seems wonderful. He will be in a class with 10 kids (6 boys including LJ and 4 girls). Evan enjoyed playing with the trains while LJ met a few of hi...

Evan signing 'Please'

The signing part is cute (and he actually does it much more clearly most nights), but I really love how hard he laughs when we cheer for him (not sure how well you can hear it in the video!). http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=H8RPF0hjuUk

Evan's 1st shoes & LJ's 1st Boots

Image
Since Evan has been wanting to cruise (walk while holding on to things) more and more, we decided to head to the mall this morning to get Evan his first pair of shoes. Of course, it took LJ all of 20 seconds to find new shoes for himself too. And while I expected to buy LJ some too, I thought they'd be a second pair of closed toed shoes for school (which starts next week)... I was not expecting what he picked - and refused to take off... Cowboy boots! He said they are like Woody's (from his Toy Story obsession)! So I said they could be his birthday gift- since he wants all Toy Story things... But I have a feeling we won't make it that long... He loves them! Dancing in the boots! Evan trying on his new shoes - and laughing at LJ dancing in his boots! Posing for dad in the boots... Escape crawler! Likes his new shoes- but also a little weirded out to have them on his feet I think! Happy as usual! Heading up in the elevator to pick up Barrett's watch after being fixed and ...

Last day of summer

Image
Spent our last morning of summer (which happened to be Labor Day) with friends on the playground! Ben and LJ playing 'store', buying each other 'planes' (actually leaves)... when did their imaginations get so vivid and cute! My boys got a hold of Kate's dolls...  Ben was flying an airplane around- guess the novelty is most exciting for LJ and Evan!? Barrett came to play! He spun the boys...  Their faces are all getting a little funny...  Lets giving out... getting dizzy! Eagle Jr so dizzy- he fell out of spinning thing! Then LJ stumbled over to fence and just held on to it for a while! LOVED this sweet moment... LJ hugging Evan (ok- while holding a doll- but still so sweet!) and a kiss for his brother! Then headed to Jason's Deli for lunch... Messy little face...  - The Wood Family
